Trasylol is an injectable medication, manufactured by Bayer Corp., which is used during surgery to reduce bleeding by slowing the breakdown of blood clots. The drug was used most frequently during heart surgeries. Two recent studies have shown an increased rate of death for patients who were administered this medication as compared to patients given a different drug or no drug during surgery.
