Reglan
Reglan (metroclopramide) is a medication prescribed for digestive or gastrointestinal disorders such as acid reflux. Reglan was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 1995. In February 2009, the Food and Drug Administration ordered the manufacturer to change the label of the drug to warn of the risks of developing Tardive Dyskinesia.
Tardive Dyskinesia is a disorder that causes involuntary repetitive movements. These repetitive movements occur primarily in the facial muscles, and cause such involuntary movements as grimacing, lip smacking, tongue movements and eye blinking. The involuntary repetitive movements may also occur in the limbs. The problems may persist even after discontinuing the medication or they may be permanent.
